Barra is a small town located at the mouth of The River Gambia, where it joins the Atlantic ocean. Situated on the Northern banks of the River in the Lower Niumi District, to get to Barra you must cross from Banjul via either the large vehicle ferry or using the smaller private boats based on the beaches adjacent to the ferry. 

Barra only takes about 2 hours to get to from Banjul Airport and yet, due to its location on the Northern side of the river, it receives few tourists throughout the year – making it all the more alluring for those wanting to see the real Gambia!
